My oldest son and I went to the Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit at the Science Center in downtown Los Angeles, CA. Only 3 words can describe our experience: A-freakin-mazing! The only issue was I forgot my camera! So sorry, no photos :-(
The exhibit was a first-of-its-kind that combines costumes and props with real-life technology, video interviews with the filmmakers, scientists and engineers. Displays ranged from engineering design labs (where you can build and test speeders and control a robot's walking behavior) to props from all six Star Wars films.
Some outstanding life-sized props included the Sandspeeder from Episode IV, Wookies complete with weapons and gear from Episode III, a male and female Tuskin Raiders (the helmet design on the female was incredible). Sideshow or Hot Toys, please make a 12” figure of this! Plus, a display dedicated to weapons got a couple visits by me. This had Boba Fett’s blaster rifle, various Stormtrooper weapons and other guns and devices. Also present was miniature special effects props of an X-Wing Fighter, Tie Fighter and more. The details in these ships were amazing!
It was a major challenge of self control in the souvenir shop. Impressed by the weapons display and, in particular, the Boba Fett rifle blaster I went on search for a prop miniature replica. I scored one by Master Replicas! It’s proudly displayed across from my Darth Maul mini-bust in my game room.
